Walking Tour of Old Quebec
1300-1600

OldQuebecSMDuring this nicely paced walking tour, led by experienced guides who love their city, you will see the lower town neighborhood in Quebec, also known as Basse Ville.  Pass by Place Royale, the city’s most impressive square.  We’ll also walk along the pedestrian-only street, Petit-Champlain and see the Notre-Dame-des-Victoires Church.  We will continue to the famous funicular (inclined railway) and ride into Upper Town.  Here we will see La Place d’Armes, where it is not uncommon to see street performers and musicians.  Along the way we will pass La Terrasse Dufferin and Place de l’Hotel de Ville with the impressive City Hall right in front of it.  And, of course, we will walk through the Frontenac area of Quebec which includes the famous Chateau.

ParlementaireThe Opening Reception will be held in Le Parlementaire Restaurant, located in the inner courtyard of the Parliament Building.  The restaurant was inaugurated on December 4, 1917, and features a magnificent beaux art décor – a style that was in vogue at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries.  The restaurant is remarkable for its high ceiling, majestic columns, richly ornamental décor and contrasting colour scheme.  Le Parlementaire was originally a gathering place reserved for the Members, for National Assembly personnel and for the press, but is now open to the public.  Tours of the Parliament Building will be offered during the evening.

This is a great opportunity to meet old friends and greet new colleagues in a memorable social setting.
